Hello!

We are currently deciding between Parsons Green or Barnes. Wondered if anyone had any insights into the two? We love Barnes but concerned about the traffic getting over the bridge/ into Chelsea - is it a massive issue or only at certain times/rush hour?

Barnes bridge into Chelsea?

are you suggesting they walk ?
I'd take their question to mean by car

So many variables? Which part of Barnes, where in London do you need to get to for work, school etc. Do you like plane noise.
Barnes has always been difficult to get to but now it’s a cut off land in zone2/3 that might as well be in zone 5. Hammersmith bridge ain’t opening for cars in our lifetimes 🤝
Putney Bridge & Chiswick Bridge do get clogged in the rush hour and other times of the day traffic is unpredictable.
Parsons Green is just so much easier.
Source: lived in Barnes but moved due to plane noise& difficulty getting places.

Nothing wrong with Parsons Green , I lived there for 2 years + and dead easy up the Kings Road for Chelsea.

However much I like Barnes, there is a real issue with Hammersmith Bridge being closed for 6 years and the ongoing issue of funding required to reopen it.

There's no getting away from it that however lovely Barnes is, it's always been difficult in terms of transport - train station being quite a distance away, no tube and the bridge closure tops it all.

If you like Parsons Green at least you know what the transport and traffic situation is. Whilst Barnes is still rather a gamble on what is potentially going to happen with the bridge. The fact it's been closed for 6 years means it could easily be closed for many, many more. Even when the bridge was open the traffic was bad.
