How often do you hear from agent?

I am selling my house in a lovely town. I know things are slow at the moment but I may as well be invisible. It has been on for 2 months almost to the day. In that time, right at the beginning, I got a viewing. No feedback whatsoever how it went. Since then I have had two market reports from Rightmove sent. No other communication at all- no phone call. Nothing. I have been very busy with work so should be more proactive myself but as I am paying them an awful lot of money if they sell and so up to now have left them to it. I just want to know what is normal really. I am keen to move but also can stay here as long as it takes although my work is coming to an end here. Anyone who is selling would be happy to share your experience?

Many EA's are hopeless / not motivated to keep you up to date. Some are just paid to get listings - not sell anything - or when they do they get peanuts (the agent - not the agency). I understand that they make more money on lettings than selling. I've had the same. It's one reason why I insist on an 8 week contract - but priced to sell. Motivate them to be proactive.

Did you put it on above a recommended price? In which case they'll think they are flogging a dead-horse. Have you paid anything upfront?

No, that's not normal. They sound useless. However, you also sound incredibly uninvolved compared to most sellers. It doesn't sound as if either party actually wants to sell your house.
The house clearly isn't priced to sell if you have had only one viewing in 2 months.

You should have a progress report at least weekly. You also want to know how many hits on your property.

Thank you for the helpful comments. Just to add I do want to sell but for very good reasons, through no fault of my own, I have not been around to follow things up. I was just wondering what was normal as although I haven't been able to chase things up, I would of thought the estate agent should not need constant chasing hence my question.

Estate agents are very variable and many are not very good.
If you really want to sell, I would give this one notice and interview some others to find someone who can advise you better about pricing and sales strategy.
