Advice on Shower/Cloakroom for very tall person

We only have one family bathroom in our house with shower over bath.

I have been thinking of getting a second WC under the stairs and possibly a shower cubicle.

My son has grown well over 6ft tall and is upset about it. He pointed out to me today that he cannot stand under the shower as the tallest the shower head will go is his nose level.

I was wondering how much it would cost to get a shower cubicle built in somewhere. Under the stairs seems cheapest. We have no water/drainage upstairs although the combi boiler is upstairs. He has the biggest room and wondering about en suite.

Any advice, please. I will ask friends, but most in similar position have converted bedroom to upstairs bathroom and we need to keep three bedrooms.

Thanks

I can't work out why your current shower can't go higher? My DH is well over 6 foot and has no issues, we have the rail for the shower head set high on the wall. Or you could switch to an overhead shower?

As a quick solution, can't you fit a longer rail to allow the shower head to go higher?

Is your bathroom ceiling low? If not then raise the shower head. Our shower is over the bath, DH is 6'5 and there is still plenty of room between his head and the shower.

Our main shower is over the bath and DH is 6'4 and the shower head is much taller than him you need a new shower, if it comes to the nose of your 6 foot son how short are the rest of you?!

If the shower head is on a rail, get the rail moved, and if necessary get a longer hose.

You can get shower heads to sit flush with the ceiling. You more commonly get them in walk in showers but I can’t think why you couldn’t have one over a bath so long as you had a decent shower screen to stop water going everywhere. We have a downstairs loo under our stairs and I can’t imagine having a shower in that space because it’s so small, is your staircase very grand and large? If not I think it’ll feel claustrophobic! Have you asked a plumber about doing an ensuite upstairs? Like most things it should be possible if you’re willing to throw enough money at it and live through the disruption!

From The title, I thought the person you were talking about was about 6’ 10”, which is the tallest person I know. Just over 6 ft is not very tall. It is getting quite common these days. My husband is 6’ 3” and as with pps, he has no difficulty in showering with a shower over the bath. He used to have difficulty with the downstairs loo as it was under the stairs. We have changed that about now so no longer a problem.

6' is only 2" taller than average.

Try being 6'7". You need a longer bed.
