Help! Boiling to death with skylights

Help please mumsnet!

Our skylights are boiling us to death. 💀 We have had to tarp them in preparation for Mondays 32c.

The difference is incredible! But obviously we are now living in a blue lagoon. It’s like being under the sea 😂

Has anyone tried solar film? External highly reflective solar secondary glazing?

Theres change the glass entirely but £££ and then in winter the warming is good.

Any Bright ideas?!?!

Thank you

We have some very expensive glazing that is (or was) the best insulation available at the time. It gets hot in summer but not unbearably so, and in winter if the sun is out, it helps heat the whole house. If you want a longer term solution it might be worth replacing the glazing?

I have a solar powered blind on my velux window, it was not overly expensive compared to a regular blind. I do only have one window, you might need multiple blinds with a lantern window - which might mean multiple remote controls!

Tarpian is back again!

I think this will be a tradition. We put up the blue tarp. Discuss the idea of a beige tarp or other option. And then do nothing. Until next time and we repeat the process 😂
