Re fitting shower room - clueless.

We need to renovate our ensuite shower room this year. It is a house built in the 90's and we would like to upgrade it a bit. It has an external window, loo, washbasin and a good sized shower, the whole room is tiled to mid height, and into the shower. Usually I have lots of ideas when it comes to decorating but I'm just clueless about this. I want a good shower, flush shower tray and just to replace the tiles, basin and loo. Nothing too flashy or individual as we will want to sell the house at some point and downsize. If anyone could help me with some sources of inspiration, tips or information about what worked for them that would be great. Are these wall boards for lining showers a good idea? I have managed to keep my shower free of mould for over 30 years so I'm a bit sceptical, though as it has leaked the boards might be a good idea. Bathroom showrooms seem to be very thin on the ground these days which makes it harder to get inspiration.

We've just renovated a property which was derelict for years and had multiple bathrooms to re-do. I'm far from any expert, but things we did/tips:

-Large tiles make the room feel larger and less grout to clean
-Out tiler recommended a resin based grout. It was more expensive, but has been mould free and hasn't cracked at all. He said the tiles are likely to crack before this type of resin grout! It was an Italian brand resin and tiles.
-If you have the door opening outwards or a slider, you'll save 1m2 of floor space within the en-suite
-We went with rimless, back to wall toilets. I can easily clean the bowl along with the floor underneath.
-Also got them installed at comfort height. That extra few cm's make a massive difference to my knees and if I need to lift my feet, I have a foldable squatty potty thing.
-A water softener has make the biggest difference. No streaks on the shower screen, no lime scale in the toilet bowl etc.

I found this website a good source of examples. Some great, some not so great. Doesn’t tell you about brands, but if you find things you like a decent fitter should be able to identify and source. Personally I’d steer clear of the wall boards as I like tiling and don’t mind keeping the grout clean…
