Vendors dragging their heels

After 6 months with no offers, we decided to swap agents and sold within a week! This was 8 weeks ago, the following week we had our offer accepted on a house. 7 weeks later the vendors haven't done ANYTHING! They appointed a solicitor last week, but haven't filled in any paperwork. My EA has been trying to chase their EA to no avail. My solicitor has contacted theirs but have just been told that nothing has been progressed so far. It was originally suggested by their EA that we would be in by October, but we disputed that and asked for August. We can't find out why they suggested October, we don't know if they've found a property yet either. Our buyers are FTB and getting really twitchy, so we're worried that the chain will break. I'm wondering whether to just start looking for another house? Although there's nothing much around at the moment!

It certainly wouldn't harm to keep one eye on RightMove in case anything good comes up while you're waiting. They don't sound very committed to moving.

Yes, this is what we're worried about - it's been weeks and as far as we know, they haven't found anything!

We offered on a house, did all the surveys, but the sellers were not prepared to move into rented as they couldn't find somewhere to buy. We gave up in the end and found another house where the time between offer and completion was 8 weeks. I would be looking and letting their estate agent know this.

I’m in the same boat and will be homeless as I am in a temporary rental having sold my place and got out.

The seller of the one I am moving to has agreed to move out but is stalling massively. I feel so powerless to do anything about it as if I throw my toys out the pram i have to start again and I don’t have time!! I need to get in August as my son with special needs due to start college and I am moving there from outside the uk so it’s not like he can just attend from another address 😭😭

At least they finally have appointed, I know it doesn't help but we went 6 MONTH with a previous seller no appointing a solicitor. In the end we had to accept they just clearly had no actual intention of moving.

Oh no that sounds awful, what a horrible situation to be in. I'll keep everything crossed that it works out for you. We've been asked by our buyers to move into temporary accommodation, but we have cats and a dog and need to be close to our sons school.

Oh my goodness, what a waste of your time! I don't understand why people do this.
