Making a mid sleeper fit a small space

My daughter's bedroom is tiny (we are in a small two bedroom house). She currently has a midsleeper which she loves, and is six years old. We've been in the house a year and moving is not an option. The room has a cupboard which is her wardrobe, a chest of drawers and two 4x1 kallax units, one under the bed and one alongside it. Frustratingly the bed is 7cm too small to fit a double height kallax underneath.

The bed is about 15cm too long to fit in the room widthways, which would be a far better use of space. Has anyone ever shortened a midsleeper? I have a way of making a short mattress, and wondered whether I could reduce the side struts to make it fit. This would give more space to play and it wouldn't block the window or radiator.

I can't afford to spend a lot at the moment. The solution might be a high sleeper in the current position, but that will need to wait a year or so. Any thoughts or experiences gratefully received!

Bed blocks would mean you have enough space under the bed.

Have a look at the FB group ikea tips and hacks.

You can shorten them but it will depend how the bed has been out together as to how easy it would be.

I think shortening the bed will be v hard and might leave it unsafe. You might be able to sell the existing bed and buy a different one that is a bit smaller. Or as someone said, raise the bed up on blocks so you can fit the Kallax underneath.

My daughter has a 'shorty' mid sleeper to fit in her tiny bedroom.

She is a teenager now, but still perfectly happy in it. I will have to think of a new solution in a year or so though!
It is 182cm long. Would that fit width ways for you? I realise buying a new bed isn't a cheap solution, but you might be able to find one on marketplace or ebay.

Bed blocks would mean you have enough space under the bed.

Are they safe to use on a mid sleeper? I'll investigate them, thank you.
