Female gas engineer

Hi all, does anyone know of any female gas safe engineers in the Northumberland area (I live approximately 30 minutes from Newcastle) who would be able to attend to some small repairs on a basically brand-new Vaillant boiler?

The company who installed the boiler are unable to send the female installer back - for multiple, highly discriminatory reasons in relation to a disability I have which I’ll not go into here as it’s not the point of the post - however have said they will cover the cost under their 12 month installation warranty.

I have tried all the usual avenues (British Gas, checking the Gas Safety Register etc) and no-one has yet been able to fulfill my needs.

To be totally honest, the majority of the female engineers I have contacted haven’t even bothered to respond, which is disheartening at best.

I have severe, complex-PTSD and would not be able to make an appointment unless I was sure some basic reasonable adjustments, including the 100% guarantee a male would not turn up to my door, would be able to be adhered to to keep me safe. This adjustment in particular seems to be impossible for British Gas to guarantee, despite being on their Priority Services Register.

Please note, I wouldn’t be able to leave my home to allow a male engineer in, or be able to allow anyone (even a friend) into my home as support. Neither of these options would be safe for me.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance 😊

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads I think I know that section on the website you’re referring to, where you pop your postcode in and it gives accredited installers? Unfortunately, I’ve tried that and they’re all male in my area, which led me to phone Vaillant themselves (just to double check) who were super-nice but confirmed what I’d found. They also took a look slightly further afield and no luck.

What was slightly disconcerting was that they informed me the company who installed the boiler hadn’t registered the warranty with them - they were supposed to do so within 30 days. Thankfully, I’d been left with a sticker with the boiler reference number (or whatever it’s called) so I did it myself then and there without any penalty but they were disgusted!

@Dinnerplease I haven’t come across that website, thanks ever so much for the pointer, I’ll contact them today - definitely worth a shot 😊

Just curious, OP - would you allow a male paramedic/police officer/firefighter into your home, if you needed one?

@BeachRide The short answer is definitely yes to a firefighter. The biggest no in the world to a policeman. And only yes to a male paramedic if he is accompanied by a female paramedic. I have experience of the latter 2 and it has never been a problem to ask for the reasonable adjustment, thankfully.

My thought process and reasoning is obviously a lot more complicated than the above, but I’d rather not share anymore of it, sorry. But no problem to ask 😊
