How much did you pay for a survey?

I’ve just had an offer accepted on a property so I’m thinking of organising a survey of the property. Can someone give me a rough price for what they paid, recently? It’s a 3 bed house (semi) on a house 16 years old.

I don’t want to get ripped off as I’m on my own.

Paid £1100 last week for a Level 3 survey of a 50 year old 4-bed detached house.

My DS paid 630 Inc VAT for each of his level 2s.

I think my DD paid about 850 Inc VAT for her level 3

All 3 bed family semis/end terraces circa 1000 sq ft

I'm in the north east and I have had two done now, a year apart (first house fell through), both by the same company, both level 3 surveys and both £550 (including vat), first was a 3 bed and second was 4 bed.

Which company? I’m in the north east too.

I paid £1000 for a level 3 survey on a 1960’s detached bungalow this year. It was worth every penny and really informative.

I think it’s money well spent and I now have a plan to fix some niggles I didn’t know about but definitely need to, to prevent future issues. I received a 70 page report, lots of photos, a geological map of the area and lots of good suggestions.

£440 for a level two then when I pulled out they charged me £400 for the next one.

£1100 & VAT for the first one (130 Yr old house), £700 & VAT for the second one (50 Yr old house). Different companies, both level 3, both in the south east.

I'm in the north West. Paid approx 500. Had 2 done. Level 2. 3 bed victorian terraces

Do I actually need a level 3 for a house that’s only 16 years old?
