We are looking to relocate - max. budget is 300k really and I am wondering if there are any nice little villages / towns where I could get a 3 bedroom semi for this price. I would really like to be somewhere rural and just somewhere safe and quieter - I'm not particularly bothered about it being a popular or busy place - if I could find a gorgeous little cottage in the middle of the countryside I'd have that! Alas my budget it failing me.

Stone in Staffordshire, lovely little canal town, approx 40 mins to Manchester via the M6.

Have a look at the train line down to Shrewsbury. Market towns along the way like Wem and Whitchurch, and it's a good train service into Piccadilly. There are also some teeny request stops that are very rural eg Yorton.

Oy... Don't tell people about Yorton and Prees!!
😁

Seriously.. Shropshire and Staffordshire will be within budget. Lots of beautiful villages.

Also look on The Wirral (Neston?) if you want to be by the coast.

I love Clitheroe and surrounding area. I don’t live there but would if I could.

Hi everyone – just wanted to pop back in and say a huge thank you to all of you for your brilliant suggestions and insights! 😊 I’ve read through every reply (probably more than once!) and you've really helped us get a much better feel for what different areas are like.

After lots of discussion, we’re leaning strongly towards Shropshire – it just sounds like it ticks so many of the boxes for us, and we probably wouldn’t have considered it seriously without your input. So thank you again for being so generous with your time and knowledge – it’s made a big difference in helping us narrow things down!
