Walk in shower cubicle - any tips?

I want to replace a bath with a walk in shower but am not sure of the best thing to do. There is a window at the end opposite the shower head so I would leave it there and have the new shower entrance next to the window.
Would I need to put a screen in front of the window or can I just leave it as it is and assume that there will be minimal splashing at that end?
The bathroom is currently tiled all the way up to the ceiling on the wall next to the bath but only to half way up on all the other walls, so what should I do on the walls where the bath has been taken out? I haven't looked to see if the tiles can be matched but I would prefer not to re-tile the whole bathroom.

Any tips about what sort of shower tray to get, or anything else I need to think about?

I've done a plan showing the existing bath.

Polo ties, should have read “ I did not want to climb in and out of the bath”

Ah right!

(...polo ties...? typo I guess! 😁)

We did this, we have a long shower tray that’s the same length as the bath was then a glass shower screen with a small return. No need for a full screen over the window end. We have a towel rail between the toilet and shower.

Agree with all the people saying shower tray rather than wet room - every time we stay anywhere with wet room type floor, water gets everywhere.

My suggestion would be to go to a bathroom showroom place and stand in some shower cubicles, to get a sense of how wide a shower tray you’ll want. Some feel v pokey but it doesn’t take a lot more to feel decently spacious.

It might be a fiddle to get an alcove fitted for bottles, but at least I would recommend some fixed shelving on the long wall, near the window end, so you don’t have to keep bottles on the floor. That’s my most hated thing about showers cubicles, when there’s nowhere to put bottles etc. You could have a bit at the tap end too, but it might get a lot wetter there.

If you can’t match the tiles, maybe get coordinating tiles in different colour on the walls around the bath zone and at the end of the shower cubicle under the window, where the bath was - maybe get those whole walls retiled? Make it like a distinct zone? Will depend on what’s already there. They may have to take existing tiles out above bath level for plumbing anyway.

If you get a shower with a moveable head as well as high up rainfall thing, you can run the water to hot while pointing the moveable head out of the way (this is why I don’t like only rainfall shower heads!)

@Talipesmum It does sound like a shower tray will be better. I’m not worried about having it flush with the existing floor and there’s plenty of room to get a wider one in.
I was thinking I would keep the existing shower head, but I’m not sure it’ll be suitable if it is integrated with the bath taps, which would look a bit odd! I would want a removable one in any case as I find them better for rinsing bits off, or if you only want to wash your feet or something.

I like this idea but I think I’d struggle with where to put my sink, the only place is on the wall under the window which would block the way into the shower.

I love the wall panels though! I am thinking a grey and black theme so they would be perfect!

It does look very good!
