I have bought and sold lots of property using local solicitors and they are always useless in teh main and expensive.I have been looking on teh money saving website and several people reccomend e conveyancing firms I ahve had a few quotes and teh are £££££££££ cheaper.Spoke to one and it sounded like the same process exactly but what are the downsides Is it really possible to do it with no face to face meetings/

I think you need to remember that you get what you pay for. Pay peanuts, get monkeys. With something as important as property, I think I'd rather deal with someone in person. It's also a lot easier to identify and locate a solicitor if you need to sue for negligence.

I recommend using an internet service called 'compareandconvey.co.uk', they give you a range of respectable solicitors to choose from and show you the price. Go for one with good reviews. You don't have to use a London solicitor just because you live in London, for example - their costs are obviously higher than elsewhere and property law is the same throughout England and Wales. I used one from this service last year called Beaumont Legal and they were fine. I'm about to need one again and this time I'm going for one in Wales. No, you can't meet them/drop stuff off in person but that makes minimal difference.
