Fire door regulations advice please

Two storey purpose built block of flats built around late 60s. There is a fire door fitted to the entrance door of the individual flat.

Managing agents are now suggesting that the brick built corridor cupboard now needs a fire door.

I can't find any information online, can anyone advise? Thank you.

The entire corridor including any doors into flats will be an escape route. It has to be compartmentalised ie fire protected so people can escape through it to a final exit.

If the cupboard surround does not provide the fire rating required then the door will need to be a fire door.

Does the cupboard have anything electrical in it, like the meters?

If so, it would require a fire door to make sure that the "protected escape route" from the flats to a door that exits the building is maintained.

The government produce the following guide https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/making-your-small-block-of-flats-safe-from-fire/a-guide-to-making-your-small-block-of-flats-safe-from-fire-accessible#fire-risk-assessment, but the place to check for a definitive answer is the fire risk assessment for your particular block, which the managing agent should supply you with a copy of.

Ps
If the cupboard is constructed in clay bricks then generally these will provide enough fire resistance ie 90minutes.

Perhaps the cupboard construction isn’t sound or perhaps whatever is in the cupboard could pose a fire risk to the escape route.

Great links thank you. The cupboard is just a store room and is clay brick construction with concrete floor and ceiling. There are no meters in it.

Then there wouldn’t need to be a fire door.
Perhaps they are worried someone might store something combustible, but that would be odd tbh.

All it needs is a notice telling people not to store combustibles.

of note the Building Regs is the original source to refer to. The guide, also posted by a pp, is based on this. It basically explains it.
