pebbledash vs flat rendering...

The outside of my house is pebbledashed and painted white and it is crumbling. Whoever did it before we bought it did a botched job so we have to do it again.

We have had a quote for it to be pebbledashed and painted again and for it to be rendered flat.

It is an Edwardian terraced house and if we had it rendered flat, it would be the only one in our street. We would probably have it white or light cream like next door which is pebbledashed and painted.

What do you think?

Some houses in our street are pebbledashed with some of those painted so wouldn't stick out like a sore thumb if we had it pebbledashed again.

But I HATE pebbledashed houses. Hmmm...

flat render

Think I would go for the flat rendering. I have similar feelings about pebble dashing - urggh!

If I had it flat rendered though I run the risk of it sticking out like a sore thumb. The house on one side is lovely brick and the one on the other side if painted white over pebbledash and looks ok.

Many streets have a mixture The pebble dashed one will look normal to you because you are use to looking at it with yours next to it but those houses are not supposed to be pebble dashed so you will maybe influence them to get rid if theirs too

if you paint it will be fine. pebbledash is not nice.

who cares about matching other houses (so long as you don't get cladding)

Ask your neighbours if they want theirs doing at the same time, you might get a discount.

My nan's street is largely pebble-dashed (well the houses are ) but there are one or two that have been rendered. They look much nicer than the pebbledashed ones.

It is cheaper to have it rendered flat than to have it pebbledashed and painted believe it or not.

If it looks better than pebbledashed and painted then it is a no brainer. As long as we don't have it painted a la Balamory I think it will be fine.

Thanks luvvies.
