Bathroom for 10k or less?

Just that really.

I am - fingers crossed all being well - moving into a house that needs an entirely new bathroom. I'm not after marble or gold plating, just something that looks nice. There's only room for a shower over a bath, one loo and one or two wall cabinets.

With a limited budget, what is the best way to approach this and keep costs down without needing to replace things after a few years?

Is it to get a handyman who sources all items themselves, or to go with a bathroom company? Or to get most items myself from e.g. IKEA, get a fitter to work with these, and then maybe pretty it up a bit with some nice elements from somewhere like Fired Earth?

I have replaced a bathroom before, cheaply and badly. I got a job lot of stuff from Victorian Plumbing on the fitter's recommendation. The bath and shower unit were good. But all the units peeled and needed replacing within five years. I sold the house as-seen rather than bothering to refit the bathroom again.

Any tips for making a better attempt this time most gratefully received.

Thank you.

Go with Roka for units
grohl for taps
Aqualisa for shower

if you want it to look as good as news 7 years down the line as mine does

shop around relentlessly
