Moving to Swansea

Hi everyone,
My partner has just been offered a much-wanted job starting in Swansea, with rotations to Cardiff and Pembrokeshire over the next four years. I’m feeling a bit nervous as I work from home and worry I might feel a little isolated. I’m originally from London and had thought we might live in Cardiff, but I realise that would be quite a lot to commute to Swansea daily.
I’m into running and swimming, so I’m hoping to meet people through that. If anyone could recommend some nice areas to live in Swansea, or nearby with an easy commute, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much

Yes , culture wise it isn’t amazing - there is a lovely art gallery but it is small and the museums could be more inspiring. There is some good fringe theatre now, if you keep your eyes open. The Grand has some good shows, as does the new arena and then there is the Taliesin, Dylan Thomas theatre and Volcano. However, for big shows, you have to go to Cardiff. We are theatre buffs - Swansea isn’t terrible but there is room for improvement. However, you won’t get the West End!

You really don't want to commute from Mumbles to Morriston! (Mumbles to Singleton Hospital would be a breeze, though).

It's also worth bearing in mind that the parking at Morriston hospital is hideous - if it's a shift starting in the day he'll need to add half an hour on to the commute just to try and find somewhere to ditch the car (probably illegally).

@Springadorable Thanks, I don't know why they can't have proper staff carparks, it's the same where we are now!!

Are you planning to settle in Swansea for a while or will you move with each rotation?
