Homeswapper - anyone tried?

I've had my flat on homeswapper for a while, not had too much interest, possibly as it's a 2nd floor flat a bit further out from town than other places and a small kitchen, decent size otherwise though.
I'm only looking as I'm struggling to afford it and don't need the room really, it's just me in a 2 bed.
Advantages of moving would be less cost and possibly a garden/balcony and depending on location less hill/distance to walk to work!
Disadvantages would be less room, the cost and hassle of moving and unknown neighbours.
Has anyone on here done this at all? Had a message last night from a house that might be good but I'm just undecided, will try and view next week but the thought of paying and moving everything by myself with no money is frightening yet I struggle to pay the rent!

Is it a council property?

Just wondering if there’s any financial incentive from the government to move.

I've been on homeswapper for years.
I've not swapped because I can't find anyone who wants to swap their 4 bed for my 2 bed 2nd floor flat.
My friend successfully swapped her flat for another on there.

I was on it for many years, but found it impossible because the search function was abysmal. There was no means to filter the search in order to see only properties interested in yours, e.g. 3 bed, area, etc., so it took hours trawling through all the homes in an area. Then I'd receive offers from people who didn't have anything I was looking for.

I emailed them a few times about the issues, but nothing changed. Maybe it's better now.

Also, I found that most people (understandably) were looking for a big flat or house with a garden, so my 2 bed flat wasn't popular, despite the fantastic location I was living in. It might be you'll only find someone who's looking for your location.

My house is a housing association and a 2 bed, looking for a 1 bed so you'd think it'd be easier
I like the security of where I am but also would love some outside space!

Homeswapper is so rubbish. I’ve been on it over 10 years and still the site hasn’t been updated. Like another OP said the site is abysmal. Very old. Hasn’t been updated. I get shown the same 9 matches every week. No one replies to messages and most don’t log on for weeks.
I need a 3 bed house outside of London because of my 23 year old ADHD ds and 4 year old DD in one room housing won’t move me so I need to swap but I live in a 2 bed 2nd flood flat on an estate in London so no one is interested. I feel like I’ll be stuck here forever.
I hope you have better luck than me

I had success with it but it was over 20 years ago now! Also know a family member who swapped. My swap was a bit random, I needed to move to London from the Midlands so I swapped a 2 bed house with garden for a 2 bed flat on a big estate in zone 1. My house was in a safer area and the people I swapped with juat wanted to get out of London, they didn't need to be in my area. The location was great for me as I wanted to be central and close to family. The site is awful but there are some groups on FB as an alternative (I always found them to be very fussy though.)

I swapped my flat via homeswapper, I’d been on there for ages. It was same size property just in a different city. I had almost given up, not because there was no properties but because of the absolute time wasting weirdos that I came across.

Whats home swapper is it an official website or a facebook group? I follow a few face book groups and they seem successful as there is alot of engagement on posts and updates from posters saying they've now swapped.

I would imagine there would be alot of interest OP given that someone would gain an extra bedroom! Gaining a balcony/garden would be worth it since you don't need the extra room but then an extra bedroom is great for guests if you ever had one

I'm in an old 4 bed old terrace house with a yard and keep contemplating trying for a swap for a garden but would mostly likely lose a bedroom (most 4 beds are older houses with a yard) but then worry I would i will regret losing a bedroom.
