Is there an alternative to beading for this gap? (Pics)

I have an unsightly gap between my flooring (LVT) and the bottom of my understairs cupboard which doesn't look great and is draughty. Wondering if there is an alternative to using beading to cover as I don't have it throughout the hall and generally don't like it. The gap at its largest is 15mm tall. Anything I could fill it with and paint to match or do is beading my only option? Ideally I don't want to have to pay anyone but happy to try my hand at DIY if not too tricky

Is that a door?

Is that a door?

Yes, within a frame

Do you have any excess at all?
E.g. Under a door threshold bar?
If so, you could perhaps cut a sliver off with a Stanley knife and fit it in the gap?

I’d run skirting the length of the under stairs. A length on the panel to the left hand side of the door and a length on the door itself. The beading on the door would need to be lifted accordingly. I’d probably get a joiner to do it so that where the door meets the frame the skirting can be profiled not to hinder the door opening.

Surely the LVT should have been fitted underneath the door slightly, so there was no visible gap?

A bead of sealant could cover the rest of the gap. However 15mm is a bit big for that. Why was such a large gap left?

I think a really think wedge could be made, glued into place and painted the same colour as the doorframe. (If I am looking at the pic the right way!)

We have cork expansion in similar gaps, which you can cut to size yourself.

Can you post a pic with door open?

I would do what SoontoBe60 says.

Get some profiles or beading from B&Q, paint it up and stick it on (you could nail it on but double sided tape would probably do). The gap is quite big so you will probably need to prop it from underneath and it might be a challenge to find something big enough to cover a 15mm gap.

I don't know why people are allergic to beading it will look fine and be cheap to do.
