Tiny kitchen ideas

Any ideas how best to lay out/improve this tiny kitchen? The space top left is currently a fridge-freezer. The floor-to-ceiling cupboard top right is a pantry/larder (original). The sink is in front of the window. Washing machine is to right of sink. Sliding doors on the left to the hall. Probably want to get rid of the breakfast bar to replace with more units and counter. This space was originally a half-wall, open to the living room. Happy to reinstate that.

Can’t see a pic, guess it’s being reviewed.

Is there any possibility of moving the washing machine elsewhere in the house? Any cupboard or bathroom it could potentially go in?

Do you have any sort of external.storage?

We keep spare cans and non perishable food items on a plastic shelving unit in our garage. This minimises the kitchen food storage needed as all we have there is opened packets of stuff.

There’s a balcony. There is a large cupboard in the hall which could be used for storage. I don’t think the washing machine will fit in the bathroom - other side of kitchen wall, so plumbing-wise it would work.

Is that a bar jutting out in the middle? Would it make more sense to remove it and have an L shape with cabinets running right round the exterior wall?

Yes, a breakfast bar. Definitely want to remove it. Can’t see how L shape is possible because of the pantry.

Plinth drawers can add valuable place to store tins. You need flat flooring though to ensure they roll properly.

Ooh, like the plinth drawers.

much as I love a larder and hate a corner cupboard I would be tempted to take the larder out and block the hatch, then run a full wall of floor to ceiling cupboards along that wall. if you want to keep a stacked fridge freezer and/or have high level ovens they could fit in there.

Then run base units around the other two sides to make a u shaped kitchen, put the draining board in the corner if the window is also right in the corner - and either cupboards all the way or you could fit low line fridge, freezer and oven with hob in if you prefer them undercounter.

Where does the door on the right lead to?

There’s no door on the right- unless you mean the pantry.

I like the idea of floor to ceiling cupboards on the top wall. But still not sure of blocking up the hatch area - it floods the kitchen with light. I think a u shape layout might make the kitchen look smaller than it already is.

I have a similar size kitchen, will try to add a screenshot from the IKEA planner in case it can add any inspiration. We did u-shape with narrow depth units on one side and it feels surprisingly roomy.

I can see that you won't want to loose the opening to the living room if it adds a lot of light and the only other window is small, but you could potentially use half depth units and keep it open above them?

We did our own corner units and only use them for items we rarely use. Also store some items such as tins outside of the kitchen like a previous poster.

Yes, thank you. Half depth on one side might work.

Ah I hadn’t read properly and didn’t realise they were sliding doors into the hall! I agree with other comments to remove the pantry
