Engineered wood

I would like to replace the flooring in our dining room, kitchen and entrance hall with engineered wood. Is it click? It would be about 40sqm. Any recommendations for good value suppliers? I think I can find my own fitters.

We’re just having ours fitted so I can’t speak for the longevity yet, but I’ve been really impressed with the quality for the money. We’re having tongue-and-groove herringbone oak over a similar area as yours. I ordered a ton of samples and did a scratch test on all of them. The only one that passed the test in our budget (£30-40sqm) was Stories Flooring. We snagged a great deal on Black Friday (just below £30sqm) and they held the stock for us until delivery a few weeks ago.

Ours has been in for 5 ish years and has some scratches and dints. But not enough that I would think about sanding or polishing. So not as hard wearing as solid wood, but happy with it.

We had oak engineered wood fitted in our hall and lounge in 2008. We have had it sanded and re polished once and it needs doing again. But we were told it would take at least three sand downs before we would notice any issues with the top layer. It still looks pretty good to be honest and it was wildly cheaper than solid planks.

We have engineered wood in our kitchen. I loved it when it first went down, but now hugely regret it. It’s beautiful for other rooms (living room etc) but very unpractical for a kitchen. Any grease leaves marks that ruin it. Not easy to keep properly clean.
