Anyone live in Canary Wharf / Isle of Dogs or Clerkenwell with teenagers

Looking to relocate to (potentially) Canary Wharf (or Clerkenwell / Islington) with DH & 14 year old DS.
Moving from suburbs because the commute is horrific, we hate it & want to be back in London.

Never lived in East London, so bit clueless.
DS is extremely sociable, home-educated & arty.

If you live in CW is there enough for your DS to do & are they happy?
CW is so well connected to jobs, the west end, etc, but don’t want to make a mistake with this move.
By the way, we’d be renting.
thanks

I used to live in Clerkenwell with teens, what would you like to know?

Interested to see comments and also how far out in the suburbs were you? Would you be looking at a flat? I love east London but don’t know that part of it I’m more north east x

clerkenwell is a great area and very well connected. Is your DS already in a school or will he be moving? that often makes the biggest differences to teens - being on the same tube line as school friends.

Isle of Dogs can be a great place to live I think, and I really like Canary Wharf. I think possibly if it would work for commute I would look at Greenwich/Blackheath though, because you have so much more green space and more going on for the kids. If your DS is home schooled and arty then all the Art courses going on at the Conservatoire in Blackheath might really appeal to him.

Ps transport in Blackheath/Greenwich is much better than many think, lots of different routes and quick services
