Wood fired hot tub or sauna

Does anyone have any experience of owning either/both? Would love to know your experiences of whether they are worth it. I’ve seen some fabulous ones at different price points.

We’ve used wood fire tubs on weekend breaks. I know we’ve always had fresh water in for each guest and some treatment tablets/dosing in for our stay but given they don’t run continuously like electric tubs do you just keep the same water in for a week and completely refresh it?

Not used a wood fired sauna but presume these are more like a wood burning stove so just need to clean out the ashes? I presume a concrete pad for a sauna would be more like a shed base where for a hot tub it would have to hold a lot more weight.

Hot tubs generally are a lot of faff. We have a normal one and no one in the family can be bothered with it despite them all begging me to buy it in the first place. It sits dormant and switched off most of the time.

Re a wood fired one. There is so much negativity about any type of wood burning stove now that we have cut right down on using our one unless it's absolutely freezing outside. Our local Facebook group is full of people complaining about the smell of wood smoke in the air and how it's affecting their health. It really makes you think.

My friend owns a wood fire stove business which included hot tubs and garden stoves and business has dropped off a cliff.

Wood fired saunas are lovely I think. However, many places and indeed councils are unhappy about them, even some of the businesses have had planning issues.

We have a wood fired hot tub. It's a Ofuro one from Royal Tubs and has a filter. The same water can be left in for 5 days for domestic use.

We also have a Karami hot tub which is heated by an air source heat pump- its the same as a wood fired one but without the stove. For domestic use you can keep the water in for a week
