Please can someone explain brass finishes to me for taps etc?

Looking at brass Perrin and Rowe taps for my new kitchen, and brass handles, shelf brackets etc. It's a period house and fairly traditional kitchen.

The taps come in a range of brass finishes - brushed, aged, polished. But they all say they are 'living' and will change over time.

Does this mean that whatever I choose it's going to end up slightly shiny dark brown? I don't mind it aging a bit but I also still want it to look pretty... Will the finishes end up still looking different after a few years, or the same?

What would you go for?

Are any lacquered? I'd assume this offers some protection. Brass polished well.

It's un-lacquered so will dull with time and will need constant cleaning. The fact it says use water and ph-neutral soap, rather than brass polish, indicates the brass finish will wear off with time unless looked after carefully

I'd avoid that finish, myself. All brass plating eventually wears off. It costs a fortune but if you really want brass fittings, get solid brass - but the price will make your eyes water.

If just bought these but haven't used them yet. Lovely weight and finish and I went with lacquered but that was an accident because I'd have happily polished them regularly.
