I've attached pic of my bathroom design. I know there are two toilets on it but one is actually a bidet. You also need to imagine a built in cupboard in the corner at the end of the shower. There won't actually be a glass screen there but a tiled wall.

Please can you advise on the following.

  1. Should the door to the cupboard be the same as the door to exit the bathroom. So light oak. Or should it be a painted white door or oak or white Louvre doors. It will be a decent sized cupboard and will end up storing everything from towels and bedding to the hoover.

The tiles I've chosen are dark teal green pic below. The floor will be LVT. I don't want tiles as they're cold and this room is directly over the foundations and so is especially cold.

  1. Should I go with a black vanity with wood effect LVT (cheapest option). Or a wood effect vanity with a different style of LVT? Or most expensive option a proper wooden vanity with a different style of LVT.

If you have any advice it would be appreciated as I have never done a bathroom renovation before. (Although if you're not keen on the tiles please keep that to yourself as I've already bought them.)

@MrBirling if you visit a tile shop in person, with your tile, you can look at little sticks of grout colour to work out which look best.

Coat paints do packs of neutral paint samples for north/south/east/west facing rooms. Gives you an idea of what might work best. I used their website to work out a neutral for our south facing bathroom and a dark blue that would work in that lighting.

We had our bathroom redone towards the end of last year. We have a large walk in shower with a wand and a rain head. The controls are near where you enter so no standing under cold water when you turn it on.

Large freestanding bath - it's one of the ones that are double skinned and insulated. If the bath you're having sits directly on the floor rather than on feet, be aware that the pipework might mean you need a platform for the bath to sit on to give enough drop for the waste. Luckily we didn't need that. Can the bath be positioned along the shorter wall instead? That will look more balanced opposite the shower.

I wouldn't have a black vanity. Toothpaste and any water splashes will show, especially if you don't have soft water. Black will likely look very much of a time quite quickly too. We have a basin with a substantial flat edge so there's plenty of room to put things down on the sink. We also went for a wide vanity to have a large basin as we'd previously had an old pedestal with a big basin.

Yes to the two rads - especially if one is a towel rail. We have two chunky retro column radiators. One is smaller, next to the vanity, with a double towel rail above it. Towels go there to dry and be near the shower. The other column radiator is the other side of the room and purely for heating.

We have good quality sheet vinyl in a chunky wood parquet design. The LVT I liked was bespoke it turned out, with a long lead time so wouldn't work for us. And cost a bloody fortune. We have an LED mirror above the vanity.
