A house next door to a Scout hut?

They meet 3 x a week. Multiple times on one day.

Access to the scout hut is down the side of the property.

Other than that it ticks all boxes at a much more affordable price for size than could probably get otherwise.

Yes

rumred · 21/03/2025 16:53

Why not? Potentially better neighbours than some.

suah · 21/03/2025 16:53

Are you concerned about noise? I don’t think it would bother me, I like the sound of children playing (and used to live happily next to a nursery).

heldinadream · 21/03/2025 16:59

Yes potentially less trouble than full-time neighbours I would have thought.

myotheraccountsa · 22/03/2025 06:54

I think it's the constant coming & going parking & collecting parents. It's basically the same as living next to a school but 3 days a week instead of 5. There will be some noise too.

At least schools finish early though, the scout meetings would probably be taking place later in the evening or at weekends.

If it was a good house at a price I could afford I would. But I will visit around the start and end of scouts to see if there was any disruption.

If they meet three times a week, yes, and they won't meet in the school holidays. However, do check if it's also let out for parties. Our old scout hut was and it was a good little earner for them.

Toottoothonkhonk · 22/03/2025 08:01

Parking may be an issue, does the house have a drive? My son's beaver group frequently puts out messages asking parents to be considerate when parking due to neighbours complaining about people parking outside their houses. Noise wouldn't worry me.

lemonwrighty · 22/03/2025 08:31

Yes!! I’m buying with scouts, community centre and a primary school all very nearby our house and at first I was concerned, but after a lot of visits to the house at different times and different days, I’m not concerned about the noise or the coming or goings, it made me fall in love with the house even more.

Stumblingalongthroughlife · 22/03/2025 08:39

I would. But be aware that in summer they'll likely be playing games outside and cooking on fires and things so if that's an issue for you think about that. i don't think parking is really that much of an issue. You'll have a maximum of 30 I would say a session, so not comparable to a school, and they won't all be driven.

Advocodo · 22/03/2025 09:55
