Loft conversion question

Hello, I have a question re dormer loft conversion. It might be a bit of a silly one! I keep reading it's all outside to start with so not a bother, which sounds great, but if the scaffolding is at the front and the back of our house, and we don't have a side entrance, does that mean builders will be going through the house all day to get to the back scaffolding anyway, where the dormer will be? They don't somehow create a whole dormer just by going through the front section via scaffoldingdo they? Would be magic if so...

Also, we have a cat. I think lots of people would recommend putting her in a cattery, but do you think we will get away with just keeping her here with us? We have a garden office, so was thinking of setting up food, water, favourite things down there, so she has safe and cosy indoor space away from the building during the day.

I was also wondering about asking about putting in the fire door we need downstairs first (our dining room/kitchen is open plan to the front door and stairs), so that we can close off the staircase/front door route more easily.

Is it ok doing a loft conversion, or is it going to be really stressful?

Any help/experience/ideas re living with a loft conversion, please let me know!

You mean there’s no access to the back unless through the house or up the scaffolding?
I think they will just go up the front scaffolding. But what about access to a loo? Are you providing a portaloo or allowing them in the house?
I never put my pets away during building work. They just muddle on (and my male Maine Coon was very keen to help out by rooting through tool boxes, laying on the wallpaper table, climbing ladders etc).
of course it will be stressful. And much dustier than you can believe once they knock through. Is it worth it? Sure. Though at one point it was helpful being a member of the local gym as water was off for a few days at a couple points.

When we did ours, the whole dormer was built from the outside. At one point, I reckon your will need to access the back of the house to install the scaffolding but then afterwards, your builders will not come into the house.

With ours, it was at the time that more floor joints were being installed after dormer and stair cut through that access into the house was sometimes needed.

Scaffolding was set up that we could still get to all our external doors with the scaffolding around them.

Once or twice the neighbourhood got into the loft and did a poo there so I'm assuming your cat will enjoy going up the scaffolding and exploring.
