Windows issues

Dear All,

Need your advise, we had 6 new windows installed by a local company and the company has done a horrible job. We have consistently highlighted to them that the windows sizes are incorrect and they have constantly stated that the windows size is correct and offered makeshift solutions, such as adding more insulation.

Furthermore, the reason we got new windows was noise reduction. This was explicitly mentioned to the windows company. The company offered the recommendations for the windows glass to reduce noise but unfortunately the street noise still exists after new windows installation.

I have written to them a number of times and also got the finance company involved but they are not agreeing to their fault. The finance company is also of no help and has stated that they can’t do much about it and we should accept the windows. I am clueless how to take this forward.

Please suggest.

I am attaching few of the pics for your expert advise.

That's a right mess!!! Can you contact trading standards at your local council??

billandtedsexcellentadventure · 18/03/2025 07:30

I would be name and shaming them on social media! It does look like the windows are the right size but they’ve absolutely bulldozed your walls!!!! I’d be asking them to come back and fix the mess they’ve made.

That’s unbelievable! Definitely contact trading standards and threaten to post photos all over social media. Any windows I’ve ever had fitted have not required loads of foam filler around them, and any minor mess they’ve made around the window has been rectified.

First few photos look to be the right size, but making good needed. Last photo looks like one or two are too small on the width and need changing

Yes planning to do that. Will also be contacting FENSA today.

Yes, that’s what I have been stating but they have not been agreeing. They say it is the right size.

Sorry you have experienced this, FENSA should be able to help you or if not you could try the GGF.

I’d be losing my mind too if I paid for noise reduction and still heard every car on the street. Before you give up, maybe compare the setup with something like The Soundproof Windows, they usually show how the spacing and glass thickness should be done. It helped me understand why my old install was off. Might help you figure out where the company messed up.

We had windows replaced earlier this year and I was worried that we’d have to redecorate afterwards. But the fitter did a great job and no redecorating necessary.
if you live in North Wiltshire I’ll give you their number.

That's disgusting. I had a neighbour once used Anglian, this was in West Sussex, you could actually see daylight coming in, by the frames. He had tried Trading Standards and was then talking them to court.we had damage like that in a council house we had, beautiful 1930,s, they ruined the sloping ceilings as well. When we decorated the hall, discovered they had packed round the front door with newspapers because it didn't fit. Most double glazing units look identical,it appears to be the luck of the draw with the fitters. In the end,we went by personal recommendation from friends and used small independent firms. Good luck.

They are shocking! I've had the whole house done including two huge french windows and I didn't need to do any work at all. You need to keep on. They can either rip them out and redo them to your satisfaction or give you a refund.
