Shaker kitchen colours for 2025

I’m going to be getting my kitchen resprayed and with new doors. It’s a kind of cool blue grey at the moment (not my choice, came with the property) and I have narrowed it down to shaker doors with a white quartz worktop , probably marble. The floors are pale creamy beige wood karndean (I think Nordic ice maybe?) in herringbone pattern.

I'm torn between being very boring and going for a beige colour shaker (colour matched to farrow and ball skimming stone or elephants breath) or being more adventurous and going for a pale dusky pink (dead salmon) or a dark burgundy or a green, maybe sage or olive coloured. Handles would be cheap and slim metal, either brushed brass or black.

does anyone have any thoughts about what will be fashionable over the next few years? Or even better have photos of their own colourful shaker kitchens?

IDK but grey seems out and beechy/beige colours seem very early 2000s to me.

Maybe they are coming back into fashion. I wouldn't claim that I have a strong fashion knowledge.

I think pale pink will date very quickly. I'd go bold with burgundy/plum or a strong green for sure.

Green or burgundy would be lovely

PlanetOtter · 17/03/2025 21:19

You see it every day, choose a colour that makes you happy. It won’t date as it will be what works for you, not for insta.

Personally I’d go for a deep cherry pink, like Little Green’s Mischief.

I have a colourful kitchen which people said I would regret, but 6 years on I still love it. And so do the people who told me to paint it beige at the time…

Butter yellow is what you want.

WildCherryBlossom · 17/03/2025 21:28

I think if you have beige wood floors, white quartz worktop then a light “greige” like skimming stone is going to look insipid. You could go deeper (Dovetail for example, slightly deeper than Elephants Breath but it does have a slightly purplish tone in some lights)

My first thought was blues (Stone Blue is one of my favourites, also love Ultra Marine) or greens (Breakfast Room, Calke or Bancha,) but burgundy could look amazing.

If just gone for a dusky pink for my new kitchen, I really wanted F&B Hay. It's a lovely yellow.

Have a look on deVol kitchens - some lovely colour ideas.
Also, don't go for real marble - it's ££££ and not easy to keep - stains etc. Go for a quartz in a marble effect instead - this sort of thing https://www.geminiworktops.com/product/caldo-tempesta?

Caldo Tempesta

Caldo Tempesta Stonelore

With warm, earthy veins against a creamy white background, Caldo Tempesta brings a sense of warmth and grounded opulence. This design captures the essence…

I would 100% go burgundy or yellow. Like the pics below (not my kitchen). Pink will date so quickly (like over use of terrazzo, black taps and too much panelling). Dark green has slightly been done to death and I wouldn’t go near grey either.

I have just had little greene arras and I love it so much! Really happy with my quartz counters too. It isn’t quite done but I wouldn’t change any of it and I like that it’s a bit unusual.

I'm going for a ballerina pink which is equal to farrow and ball Middleton pink

The Little Greene Arras looks great!

I think you choose what you like rather than fashion. However, if you're likely to sell while present kitchen is in place, I'd avoid burgundy, pink, purple. We're having a new kitchen soon so been talking over our choices with friends and from what's been said, they're not popular. A lighter colour like white or cream will show marks easier. I like sage or a smokey blue which I guess is similar to your present one. If not a wood effect.

Greige or butter yellow are what’s currently fashionable. Pink, dark red and dark green are on their way out. Navy blue and grey are dated. I’d think about which colours you actually like - that way even if they aren’t technically fashionable you are more likely to still like them in a few years. What’s your favourite colour?
