Extending a window

Not sure that's the correct term!

Two things we would want to change in the house (currently about to make an offer) Insall a downstairs toilet (I've been told by a few people this isn't too complicated) so all good there.

The next, and it's not a deal breaker, is to make a window bigger. One of the bedrooms has a very small window. I would ideally like to make this a little bigger. Anyone have an experience with this?

Anything is possible.

We had a small window taken out and a door/window fitted.
Meant cutting the brickwork, installing a new (longer) lintel and making good but afterwards you could not tell it was not original.
If it is upstairs then expect scaffolding to be used.

Out of the two jobs, I would have said installing a downstairs toilet was by far the more difficult
Drainage, H&C water, electrics, ventilation etc are far more difficult to sort than simply enlarging a window.

Thank you! With the toilet the idea is it would be in the utility room so a lot of the piping etc is already there (along with a sink)

You will likely need a new lintel which could require a structural engineer, you may also need to consult building regulations as it changes the out side of the property and could effect neighbors.

For the toilet it will depend on the location of the soil stack really, you can get macerator toilets in more awkward locations but they're not popular as the can be noisy and break easily.
