Carpet for loft conversion (allergies)

We are having our loft converted into bedrooms for the kids. Myself and my son have allergies (mine is dust) so we need a medium carpet. We made the mistake of having a thick carpet in the living room and it is a nightmare to hoover. My allergies got worse in my forties so a few years after decorating.

The loft will be insulated anyway but I have no idea on how to pick a suitable carpet. We can't have Lino/hard floor as it will be noisy.

Any other dust allergy sufferers?
Thanks

How much headroom is there to work with?

If you are still in the process of getting the flooring put down I would look at ways of engineering as much sound proofing into the floor joists and as possible.
Things like adding extra plasterboard and replastering the celling below the loft
Adding rockwool etc as soundproofing, specialist mechanical fixings etc would help with blocking sound.

As a child my bedroom floor was cork tiles to help with allergies.
