Bloody great hole in centre of garden, WWYD?

Used to be a swimming pool, now a subsiding gravel pit. When the owner removed the pool they needed to fill in the hole somehow and the gravel was the cheapest/easiest 'Will deal with it properly later on' option. Owner now agrees that it looks awful especially as it continues to subside, but no one has come up with an affordable idea (owner has since retired and is on a fixed income) about how to fix it. Paving it over wouldn't work as the original pavers would now be too dear for owner's budget, plus the ground below would apparently need lots of expensive preparatory treatment, while cheap pavers would be a different colour so wouldn't match. Wooden deck? Veg/flower garden? Lawn? Garden DIY goddesses and gods, WWYD? [Edit: there's a pic which will show shortly once the admins have approved it]

I'd empty it and have it as a sunken seating area with a firepit. Lots of potted plants.

Oooh that's creative! Very interesting idea, thanks very much.

Gravel garden would be my go to, there was a garden on gardeners world where they planted into gravel over concrete and the right plants grew surprisingly well.

Gravel garden, but plants in pots below gravel. You won’t get the plants spreading, but cheap option and could look really nice.

Sorry, I forgot to ask my second question: If this house came up for sale in your area, would you buy it with the garden as-is, or would you ask for money off the asking price? Thank you, collective wisdom :)

Sorry, I don't know what 'pots below gravel' means - erm I'm not much of a gardener - do you mean the pots would be buried and only the plants would show?

I'd certainly spend a day with wellies and a pressure washer on the slabs. But I find that activity really therapeutic 😄

Yes, I've seen this too, in cities. There are already some nice weeds that grow in the gravel so I guess the soil is all right...
