would you buy a house with open plan bedroom/toilets in all bedrooms? In all my property surfing never seen anything like this…

No way do I want to wake up to my dh doing a shit !!

saveforthat · 09/03/2025 12:05

No that's really weird but it's just the one bedroom as far as I can see.

teraculum29 · 09/03/2025 12:08

Oh, how nice let's sleep in a bed next to just flushed no2, with a nice aroma yay

PandoraSox · 09/03/2025 12:08

The loft room.has one too, but it is behind a screen.

Really odd.

soupyspoon · 09/03/2025 12:09

Its just one bedroom and you could take the toilet out. Make a plant pot out of it or something

Thisshirtisonfire · 09/03/2025 12:10

I mean if it's just one bedroom... would be OK for an older child who is alone in the room.
But no, I'd not like that myself in the master bedroom. As someone has already said, who wants to wake up to their DH doing a shit right in front of them lmao!!
At least there are two big windows either side...

But maybe they did this because a child is disabled and has continence issues or something?

3 of the bedrooms have it. I didnt see them all at first but its clearer on the floorplan

What about the growing trend for hotels to have a see through bathroom in the room 😳!!

OK if you are on your own, but most people share a double/twin room. I now check very diligently if the hotel is new or refurbished. Ugh ugh ugh. Who thought that would be a great idea?

I know some have blinds etc. But still, the idea. Maybe I'm just odd about things like that though!

Mumsntfan1 · 09/03/2025 12:13

I've seen this in hotels a couple of times but it's always put me off!

RosesAndHellebores · 09/03/2025 12:15

The bedroom issues can be addressed. The bigger issue is the lavatory directly off the dining room and the fact that there is no downstairs bathroom and two bedrooms. The house needs reconfiguring but it is quite a lot of house for the money if it is in a nice part of Virginia Water.

Birdseyetrifle · 09/03/2025 12:17

god no! How awful. There doesn’t appear to be a family bathroom unless I’ve completely missed it!!

Yes you're right, and one of those loos is in the bay window. What a way to ruin a lovely feature!

Nice view thought Im sure.

minnienono · 09/03/2025 12:24

It's a weird layout full stop. Ripe for a developer to make it nice 3 bed home with 4th bed/study downstairs.

5 rooms are marked as bedrooms but no family bathroom despite not all having their own "open plan bathrooms".

I don't want to see some things, it's not being prudish, it's just not all activities are spectator sportsGrin. (Owner of a house with 3 bathrooms with solid walls!)

Cattery · 09/03/2025 12:25

No. Horrible

Cyclistmumgrandma · 09/03/2025 12:29

No bath, and the 2 showers can only be accessed through bedrooms - one off bedroom 1 in the en suite and 1 actually in bedroom 4.... No, not for me!

Cyclistmumgrandma · 09/03/2025 12:30

Oops, just spotted a third shower, but, again, it's in a bedroom.

Crouton19 · 09/03/2025 12:30

It's horrible. It looks like the original main bathroom got incorporated into the dressing room of the big bedroom, but why not then put a family bathroom somewhere (not in the dining room) instead of a loo in every bedroom. Is it a former brothel?

C152 · 09/03/2025 12:31

No. Especially not when 3 of the 5 bedrooms have them! It's a bizarre arrangement to have in what is otherwise a bog standard family home. The loft doesn't even have a door, so anyone could wander upstairs and catch you at a most unfortunate moment! One of the bedrooms also has a clear shower just sitting out in the open in one corner.

The longer I look at this floor plan, the more unfathomable I find these choices. This is a 5 bedroom family home, decorated as a family home, yet there is not a single proper/family bathroom (complete with toilet, bath/shower, sink). Why on earth wouldn't you have one complete bathroom? Where does everyone wash? Do they all use the shower in bedrooms 1 or 4?!

For me, this house requires too many costly changes and replumbing to make it worthwhile.

newkettleandtoaster · 09/03/2025 12:43

Totally strange.

I wonder if a pp was correct and that it was used as a brothel?

I just can't understand why else somebody would do this? And no family bathroom?

Geneticsbunny · 09/03/2025 12:45

The attic bedroom isn't numbered and isn't counted as a bedroom in the listing which makes me suspect that it isn't legally allowed to be called a bedroom.
So it's basically a 2 bedroom house with a playroom or storage in the attic and 3 reception rooms and no main bathroom! Madness.

JoyousEagle · 09/03/2025 12:45

We viewed a house like this recently. Absolutely gorgeous house. The master bedroom was enormous, with a dressing room area to the side, and then the en suite off that. All beautifully done. But the en suite had no door, just an arch.

You could easily put one in, but the whole house had clearly had a lot of money spent on it and was beautiful, I can't understand why they wouldn't put a door in!!!

Roomgigi · 09/03/2025 12:45

Really odd - the downstairs bedroom has a fridge freezer in it
It looks like they took the wall down between the lounge and dining room but left the radiator and radiator cover in situ
I would say no building regs or certs for any of the works
Also a lot of mirrors

It’s a no from me. Unless you really love the house and want to spend money, on putting in doors/walls to box off the bathrooms for private 💩s

No definitely not

Beautiful rooms but also not keen on stairs in living room

Chersfrozenface · 09/03/2025 14:30

If I wanted to live in that particular spot I'd be putting in an offer for the current price of a 2 bedroom house in the immediate area (3 bedroom, tops), minus the cost of putting in proper bathrooms/shower rooms with actual walls and doors.

After checking on the building regs situation.
