Is paving the front garden to park 2nd car a good idea?

Please help DH and I to decide as we have a quandry.
We have a house set back from the road with a driveway long enough for a people carrier and a little more wiggle room. Any visitors park on the road outside the house. Several times their wing mirror on the pavement side has been kicked off. Even footprints left on the passenger window. It has happened to our next door neighbour's visitors also. One vandal threw their wing mirror right over the gate into their back garden! I have no idea why as where they park causes no inconvenience to anyone. So my neighbour and the people opposite, paved over their front gardens to provide parking for a 2nd car. Our front garden is very pretty with well established plants. Roses, fushias daffodils, snowdrops, and a lot of self seeded native bluebells just coming out now ready for Easter. My question to you, dear Mumsnetters, is this. If you were buying a house, would you prefer a pretty front garden and a drive for 1 large car, or a bare garden with room for 2 cars?
Genuine question as DH and I do not want to cause an issue further down the line by paving over the garden for when we eventually come to sell.
Any thoughts gratefully received.

We have to park our car on the road and we always tuck the wing mirrors in after once when it was bashed by a passer by. Only happened one time in 13 years but hey ho. Suggest you get your guests to do the same.

I'd prefer the extra parking. Would it be possible to do it and leave even a small area of planting to soften the front?

Do what you need to do for your family NOW. Don't waste time worrying about what future buyers may want, unless there's going to be a massive drip-feed that you're about to put it on the market.

Please put proper drainage in whatever you do.
Too many concreted gardens can turn an area into a flood risk just from overflowing drains!

I’d prefer a dropped curb and parking

No drip feed As I said before we are only discussing it as we are staying here at least until my son finishes college (SEN) and then it entirely depends on DH's job as it is convenient to be here. The question is more if we gravel over the front for a visitor to park off road would it detract a buyer when we do eventually sell it in a few years, that is all really.

@snotathing the front has a nice boundary wall which has a flower border then grass verge, so is pretty. Our drive is over a car and a half long, but not 2 cars. We haven't worked it out properly but we may not need to do anything to this wall and external border for another car to get on to the gravelled front. The existing drive has a dropped curb.

@Karatema a BIG no to concrete here :) We were discussing brick block paving and the hexagonal gravel grid system. The way you construct this type of drive has excellent drainage. We can also include some plants like camomile to make it less like a drive and maybe put the bulbs in around the edges? Would miss our other existing plants though!
(edited as I did not put we - it is not just me who decides, DH had the idea)

The environmentalists plus your waterboard will be pleased with your plans 😀

just a little wrap up from me with many thanks to everyone who has commented. it has helped DH and I to decide. We have chosen to keep the front garden as is and just point all visitors to park round the corner next to the park land. With any luck the neighbours with the Ring and (other makes) cams will stop the person who likes to kick wing mirrors.
Had a chat with neighbours and it has been happening for approx 14 years and they think likely the same guy taking a short cut from the pub! Never wanders onto property, just attacks car wing mirrors that wickedly jump out and bump into him...
