Anyone lived near an airport/close to runway

is it really bad. Or really really bad? I lived under a flight path about 3 miles from an airport once and used to have to stop conversations around the planes taking off in the area. That was ok. Wondering if this will be 10x worse though.

It depends where you are. I lived very close to Heathrow back when Concorde was flying and it was horrendous.

It depends what direction from an airport... we live about a mile away, but to the side rather than end of runway. Sometimes hear them at night when it's quiet outside. But not during the day.

The tractors driving past are more noisy, and they do go on all day and night at certain parts of the year.

Nonsense!

I think Bristol missed that memo. There was a brief lull for 30 mins around 4 am. But otherwise it was continuous all night straight over the house at low levels.

I grew up in Twickenham and the flights go over every couple mins if you are on the flight path that day. It is noisy enough to stop conversation at times but you do get used to it. When I visit my dad these days I’m really aware of the flight noise for a couple of days but then it fades and becomes a comforting childhood noise!
