We recently moved to Midlands but still due to cost of living would like to get to a position where we live in a 'nice enough' area and life to be more affordable (I know this is a difficult thing to find!)
We currently live in Nottingham but looking to possibly go further.
Looking for 3 bed houses with ideally more of garden space for about £150k (hopefully even less!!).
We both have cars so transport is not an issue. We mainly want something with good schools/family friendly, enough population to have work opportunities.

I've been looking at various places but unsure what the areas are like at all such as Carlisle, Burnley, Doncaster etc. We are flexible for the right place we will up and move as our daughter is still young, if anyone has suggestion please fire away!

To get a proper garden for that price in Burnley you'd be looking at ex-council, like this - https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/158467004#/?channel=RES_BUY

It'd need doing up to your taste but is in a decent bit of town near a nice primary school. Otherwise you're looking at terraces with yards or grottier areas of town. I like the town and grew up there but it's not for everyone so you'd have to visit and see if it suited you or not. It's friendly and there's lovely countryside around it and it's big enough to have job opportunities, depending on what you do ofc.

I'd look around Newcastle and Durham - large enough city to have good employment opportunities, good transport links (Edinburgh - London train line), major hospitals, international airport and easy access to countryside and the coast.

Wow! I can’t believe how good that house is for the money!
You can tell I live in the south can’t you…

What do you mean by nice enough and what work opportunities do you need? You really need to visit these places, the Internet can't tell you much honestly, having spent the last year trying to do the same thing.

My parents and sister live in Penrith. It's lovely. Propert there is surprisingly cheap considering its proximity to the national park.

You need to give Doncaster a huge swerve. With a budget of £150 thousand you will be in a shit area despite what local estate agents say. The areas like Tickhill, Bawtry, Sprotborough, Wadath are out of your price range and even these better areas have some run down parts.

Lincolnshire still has affordable housing with land

If you’ve got kids, not so much.
