Private company children’s home…any experience?

I’ve sold my home and buyers are getting impatient but unlikely to pull out. I’ve found a home I like but planning permission has just been granted for a children’s home on the same small cul de sac. It is for two children aged 8-17. The cul de sac fought against it and lost. I don’t have a problem with it in my mind but also don’t want to go looking for trouble when I don’t need to. The statement from the private company says it expects the young people to adhere to their behaviour policies which sounded a bit ominous.

We have one near us. The first night the kids were in, police were called.
Neighbours were concerned about staff parking all over a residential road, the company said there were three parking spaces ( if the staff shuffle their cars around at shift change) and the staff would park on the drive. Guess what actually happens, yep, they park all over the road.
But the one thing that that shows the house up as different is the front lawn. It’s rarely cut and when it is, it looks like someone’s done it with a kitchen knife.

I know someone who lives in a situation like this. I would imagine there could be some issues every now and again but mostly this will be one or two kids and 4-6 carers on site most days. It's a professional setting with trained staff trying to create a better home start for kids who haven't had it easy.
There will be other houses if this puts you off.

A home of this size is likely to be for children with severe autism/learning difficulties and extreme behaviours. But what that means is that they won't be out and about on their own, coming back drunk or drugged, bringing undesirable friends home etc and are unlikely to impact on neighbours.
