Advice please for green algae removal from brick wall

I’d appreciate advice please on a reliable/easy method , if there is one, for removal of unsightly green algae on my front garden wall. I don’t have a pressure washer but may be able to borrow one. But I’m wondering if it’s safe to use on the wall or likely to damage it.

Has anyone used diluted bleach or white vinegar for this task? And if so does it require a lot of scrubbing after application?

Would Patio Magic work perhaps? We use this on our patio each year - just spray it on and wait for the sun to do its thing. We never need to jet wash.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Unfortunately time isn’t on my side for improving the appearance of the garden wall as my house is going on the market in the next 48 hours 😱

From what I’ve read about this and similar products the results are gradual over a week or 2. I’ve concentrated on preparing the inside of the house and only just noticed the green algae on the garden wall yesterday. I’m hoping to come up with a quick fix if there is such a thing.

Haha - yes not Patio Magic then. It won't transform your wall in 48 hours during gloomy February! I'd give diluted white wine vinegar a go in the first instance. You can pressure wash but you need to be careful and I believe the issue is that it can open pores that make it more likely the surface attracts dirt.

Having bought a property with a heavily algae stained wall, I've done what I can with bleach, soap and a hose and painted the rest.

Sodium hypochlorite. It works quickly but it's potent so be careful. It the ingredient in patio magic but much stronger. I dilute it and put it watering can. It works in about an hour.
Make sure you wear old clothes and wellies it's very strong bleach.
I get mine on Amazon.

I use neat malt vinegar on my stone steps to remove green algae, it works a treat. You can see it lightening up over several days. It will kill plants though, so you have to be careful not to have runoff.

I use Wet & Gorget in a garden sprayer

Wet & Forget

Thanks everyone for your tips. I’m annoyed at myself for not noticing it sooner.

I quite like the look of it! And if I was a potential house buyer, it wouldn't put me off.
