Anyone switched out their IKEA kitchen doors?

We just moved into a new house and while the IKEA kitchen doors are fine, I really like the idea of switching them up for something different. Looked at Plykea, Holte, Naked, etc. but it's quite expensive, esp. when the doors we have are actually fine.

Anyone done this and could recommend or not?

(Also posted in chat but realized it would be better here!)

When you say different? Have you thought of just getting them resprayed a different colour?

I’ve done it with every kitchen I’ve ever owned until my current one, which we fully renovated. I think Ikea mid-range upwards kitchens are good quality, and there’s a lot of choice. Unless the carcasses are really old, the cabinet sizes will be standardised, which makes it easy.

Agree with previous poster that respraying is also an option, unless it’s the actual style you’re wanting to change.

You can get an excellent professional look by painting them yourself. Use Zinsser one coat and rollers. You can google how to do it. You can get it made up in any colour you want. There are other great brands too.

Not exactly the same, but we used Ikea carcasses as storage in our bathrooms, with fronts by Superfront and Shaker Doors. They look great and bespoke - you would never tell they’re Ikea. We also had wardrobe doors made by Noremax to fit IKEA Pax wardrobes, and the quality is excellent too.

I would have liked to use Plykea, but found them expensive and difficult to deal with, the quotes were difficult to understand and had lots of options, and I just didn’t have the energy to figure them out.

We got doors from Custom Fronts for our Howdens kitchen (they also do doors for Ikea). A bit cheaper than Plykea (but CF only have the colour veneer on the front of the door) and a bit of a nightmare to deal with (won't go into details, but happy to via a DM!), but they did sort it all out and come through in the end and I'm happy with the doors.
