Rental issues

We've just picked up keys to a rental property that we are moving into to facilitate the sale on our flat.

Just been over and found out that almost none of the windows downstairs open. The ones upstairs have no locks on them and are the sort that open really really far so have had to cover my daughter's window with a cupboard so she can't access it.

It's a short term rental but is this stuff legal? Surely windows should open?

I would be contacting the landlord and reporting this.

    • They can’t accuse you of damage to the property 2)- The windows should open?

the landlord has obligations to fix this…

Hi take photos/video & report. For your daughters room I’m in rented & have these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B09FLR99XC?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title to stop windows opening too far (I have issue with locks)
