Office in a cupboard- anyone done it?

Moving house soon. DH wfh 2 days a week- in our current home he's had a desk in our bedroom but there isn't really space for that in the new house. He could set up a desk area in the kitchen/dining room, but I'm concerned about general background noise, I don't want him (or me) having to stress about having an important phone call while the washing machine is on spin a few metres away or the DC are being rowdy in the next room.
There is a reasonably deep built in cupboard in our bedroom which extends above the staircase- would I be mad to try and turn it into some sort of office? I like the idea of just being able to shut the door on it, plus it would be much quieter upstairs. Have added pics of the sort of thing I had in mind... has anyone here done it? Is it easy to set up/comfy to work in?

I follow an interior design page on Instagram and the lady did this in her old house. Made me wish I had a big enough cupboard to do the same! Her user name is endofthe_row
You might need to scroll back a fair bit as she's since moved but it was a great idea.

We did that when we lived in a flat and it worked really well. It wasn't an existing cupboard, it was one that we had installed along one wall. It had a deep end and a shallow end with four sets of double doors. The double doors at the deep end had a desk in it with a slide-out keyboard shelf. There were shelves above the desk for the printer and file storage. There was just enough clearance between the edge of the desk and the doors so that you could push the chair in against the desk and still close the doors.

I think power might be the biggest issue for you, unless there is already a socket in the cupboard. It was fine for us as there were sockets on the wall that we were using so the carpenter made them accessible when building the cupboards.

They look amazing! Do it and report back.

Alternative idea, some kind of hideaway desk like this? Or a More budget friendly option?

We did this with an IKEA PAX wardrobe in our bedroom. Works great! I use it as a desk now as my husband has a garden office but for a while he did work from home in it. Worked great!

I looked at hideaway desk cabinets but I'm ideally looking for a solution that doesn't take up more floor space
