Painting UPVC window frames

My UPVC windows are in good condition but brown. I can live with that outside because it blends well with the stone walls, but inside not so much.
Has anyone painted brown UPVC? Any tips?
Do I need a super special primer or will any do?
I don't want Frenchic or similar as I've used it on bits of furniture and it's not robust enough.

Yes, there are special paints you need to apply first, I think Zinsser is one, but there are others.

We've had windows and doors painted.

You do need a specific paint, which is normally a 2 pack PU. This is not something you can usually pick up from B&Q or your local decorator’s merchant. Also, it has to be applied by spray and you’ll need PPE while doing it. So all in all it’s a specialist job. There are plenty of companies out there that specialize in this sort of work, it’s worth get it done by them rather than hand paint yourself, you will get a better finish and have less chance of it peeling.

My decorator has painted some rooms and the results look fine, but I want to do a small room myself.

Sorry I didn’t read your thread properly, you just want to paint the inside. This changes everything, now there is no concern regarding weather, UV rays etc. I would use this mutli surface paint, no need for a separate primer.

Multi Surface Paint (MSP)®

All surface, all purpose, internal and external self priming and self undercoating paint that takes the thinking out of painting.

I've literally just done this two days ago on brown pvc doors inside. I used rustoleum uPVC paint in the white chalk shade and it's fantastic, did three coats and it's covered beautifully. It's water based and low VOC too so almost entirely odourless. I have it a thorough clean and a light sand first to give the paint something to adhere to.

Also no need to prime as it's self priming

That bedec paint is amazing. I've used it a lot. Just make sure you've cleaned the frames really well and they are dry and grease free. And mask off the glass with making tape. (I might be tempted to use zinsser primer too just in case but you shouldn't need it)

That sounds perfect!

Great stuff, thank you. I'll give the bedec a go.

I really would try the rustoleum. I've had a perfect result and it's DIY friendly

Having seen leopardprint's post, I think I'd be using the rustoleum. It's specifically for painting uPVC.
