Hello,

hoping for help as I’m struggling to figure out how to make the kitchen better if I was to knock the wall down between the kitchen and dining room.

currently do not have funds to replace conservatory into extension to build that way out so looking at cheaper options

I feel like if I was to knock that wall down I’d be left with an even smaller kitchen because there wouldn’t be space for units ..

open to suggestions that I most likely just cannot see … :)

Move the kitchen into the dining room and knock through and then have a dining kitchen. You would would probably want to switch the patio doors with the current window and possibly block up the entrance to the living room to get plenty of wall space.

I'd close off access into the kitchen from the hall, bring the wall between dining and living rooms back (blue), give a bigger kitchen diner by taking the connecting wall out and add more space for units (red) and plenty of space for a big dining table or a smaller one and a sofa

Oh sorry it says my image is under review, it'll make more sense when you can see it!

Turn the front room into a single entry room. Capture the end of the hall and cupboard and add to the back kitchen diner

Also move the front room door closest to the actual front door, leaving max wall space in the lounge for either a corner suite or two sofas.

Thank you so much everyone - great advice/ideas as always :)

I would block the living room double door access and move the kitchen there and swap the sliding doors and the window.

I'd also steal a bit of the garage to create a utility.

HereForTheFreeLunch · 10/02/2025 09:30

What about the garage? Would you be looking to convert it into livable space at some point?
You could do a utility, bathroom and bedroom depending on where you put the door.

FunPinkSwan · 12/02/2025 21:27

@HereForTheFreeLunch yes that’s definitely the plan to utilise the garage as a living space . I’m torn between an office and something else or another lounge ( I have a 8yr old and think it would be good to have 2 reception rooms as he grows however more so when he’s a teenager- but we’ll see! )

i would probably replace the conservatory into an extension too at some point depending on funds … that’s the idea long term
