Need a new kitchen. Been to a few show rooms now. They all seem really nice but has anyone had any experience with wickes? Thank you

We got ours from wickes..they quoted us 14k Inc installation so we got a local builder to help my DH install. Much cheaper

DisplayPurposesOnly · 02/02/2025 15:22

I have a Wickes kitchen, from the Tiverton range. About 14 years old now, still looks good.

Bluevelvetsofa · 02/02/2025 15:28

Wickes kitchen, your own fitter.

Wiglio · 02/02/2025 15:35

I have a Wickes Tiverton kitchen, builder installed it and got granite worktops from a local supplier both of which worked out much cheaper

womananddog · 02/02/2025 16:04

Do not use their fitters! There is a facebook page Wickes Kitchen/Bathroom Horrors https://www.facebook.com/groups/1636023269945495/?locale=en_GB

Have a look at this comparison of kitchens, the same kitchen from different kitchen companies. DIY kitchens is the one recommended.

We had a very bad experience with Wickes bathroom installation recently and would never recommend to anyone. It was expensive but the work done was very poor quality and with long unnecessary delays till finished. They will try to lure you in with big promises but ultimately just vanish when the actual work starts. The ridiculous customer service are clueless and of no help. Please read the reviews from other people before committing.Best of luck !!

Wickes measured ours did a good job went to the showroom to get a qoute,
one we picked a 15 inch by 15inch square of door on the wall to see what it looked like
cost £5000 without fitting

DIY Kitchens went to the showroom with Wickes plan
mini kitchen on display at the showroom
fantastic help with planning the cost of each unit very transparent
Cost for better quality and the work tops and sink i wanted
£3000
the £2000 we saved went a long way towards the electrics and plastering and fitting
3 years later still love my kitchen

Thank you for all your responses. I really appreciate it. It's such an expensive thing to do. I really want to try and get as much info as possible. I do have my own fitter so that should help.
The kitchens in the showroom looked and felt nice. Good to hear some of you have had them for 14 years etc.

I am going to have a look at diy kitchens. I've heard good things.

I found a kitchen I loved in Wickes, then bought it through Benchmarx - they're the trade operation of Wickes, so our builder put the order through and they price matched Wickes (they were running a 50% off all kitchen cabinets promotion at the time!). Meant we got a great price, and used our own fitter (Wickes fitters are always really expensive). I'd definitely recommend Benchmarx, they were great to deal with.

We were going to have bathroom supplied and fitted by Wickes. Absolutely messed us around, three unnecessary appointments, date kept being put back and then installer resigned. He didn't trust them to let us know. Also, it was going to take three weeks to install. We gave them two weeks to let us know and they didn't. Luckily it was easy to get our deposit back. Found our my friend had used Wickes and it had taken three weeks, her and her husband weren't happy with the finish either.

Ended up using a local chap, he's currently fitting now. He promised us it would be done by Friday, he's thinking he'll be finished on day 7 which is tomorrow. Everything looking good so far.

ThePittts · 03/02/2025 15:05

We have used Wickes for a previous kitchen and bathroom, really pleased. Recently moved and had another wickes bathroom. We used Benchmarx for the kitchen which appears to be similar quality to wickes, but came in quite a bit cheaper

Abracadabra12345 · 03/02/2025 15:12

We had Wickes and their fitter who was absolutely fantastic. Very happy with the whole experience

Nannyfannybanny · 03/02/2025 15:14

There's another thread on here about kitchens, said DIY, kitchens were rubbish, mostly and avoid wren. My late DF had a b and Q kitchen was furious about the fitting. We have a wickes kitchen,DH installs it 10 years ago. It's a very simple design of doors etc , vanilla,so a bit darker than cream..

FlummeryTart · 03/02/2025 16:49

We have a Wickes shaker-style kitchen, installed by DH about seven years ago. It’s still fab, no problems with it at all.
After comparing units and prices it had come down to DIY kitchens or Wickes.
DIY was much cheaper for the same units but, as they come ready assembled, we didn’t have anywhere to store them while other work was going on in the kitchen area (wall being demolished, new electrics etc).
Upside was I eventually managed to get Wickes to match the lower DIY kitchens price and when the Wickes flat-pack items were delivered they didn’t get in the way until needed. Win win.

Gekko21 · 03/02/2025 16:56

We have a Wickes kitchen, installed by a local fitter about 12 years ago. It's fine - more at the budget end, but it's what we could afford at the time given we were doing other jobs to the house. My mum has a B&Q one from their top range and the quality is lovely. It's about 12 years old too and still looks great. The B&Q fitter was excellent too.

NotMeNoNo · 03/02/2025 17:05

DIY Kitchens are an independent company who make very good quality kitchens, they are not the same as B&Q "www.diy.com" who don't have such a good reputation.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 03/02/2025 17:14

Thé quality has gone down, though, in the last four or five years.

billandtedsexcellentadventure · 03/02/2025 17:31

I'll check benchmarx thank you

We had a Wickes kitchen, we only bought the kitchen and got someone else to fit it but had no problems with it

Zanzara · 03/02/2025 17:36

We are currently ordering from diy kitchens. They are great, good value for excellent quality, their showrooms are a delight and no pressure whatsoever. They are Which recommended.

They are also manufactured in Yorkshire.

Very happy we found them. :-)

Edited to add they are also factory assembled, not flat pack, so a big saving in time and labour costs.

APT · 03/02/2025 18:10

Love my kitchen. Independent fitter. If you're in or near Essex I can give details. He was first class. Ordered January, delivered Feb, fitted March. No problems at all.
