Help - paint colour !

Getting our bedroom repainted and just lost with what colour to paint it !
midnight blue fitted shaker style wardrobes on one wall with brushed brass knobs, dark wood floor - Victorian house, high ceilings / picture rail - 2 big windows opposite the bed wall so fairly good light and fireplace on wall opposite the where the wardrobe will be.
would like warm but timeless feel
i initially thought a warm neutral but not getting inspired ! Tried elephants breath sample - uninspiring.
our taste is generally contemporary but have a lot of white elsewhere with pops of colour from furniture and accessories. Somehow feel white is not for this space though !
Any ideas really welcome
wardrobes similar to this

Sage green.

My bedroom, also Victorian with high ceilings, is Tranquil Dawn. Dark blue goes really nicely with it.

Pale pink? Pink is calming too.

How about something like F&B Borrowed Light which is a pale blue with slight grey tones? It's a soothing colour. I have it in my home office colour matched in Johnstone's trade paint.

Thanks everyone.
@NigelHarmansNewWife I loved the idea of pink sadly a losing battle with Dh!
please keep the ideas coming !

Strong white from F&B.

I would keep them neutral. Pinks etc will look scruffy and crap within 6 months and more chance you’ll go off it.

neutral decor, colour in the accessories.

Little Greene have lovely warm neutrals. I recommend getting half a dozen samples to try in your space. Maybe look at Lute, Clay, Mushroom, Bath Stone among others. After a lot of samples and a “wrong” first coat, we chose their Stone Pale Warm for a hallway, which we almost didn’t even sample as it looked almost apricot online. In our space it’s come out as a gorgeous soft warm honeyed biscuity shade.

We've just done trench coat which would meet your warm neutral criteria. Looks like a golden coloured cream. Quite light by day, cosier by night / lamplight.

We've got Trench Coat in our north facing hall and downstairs cloakroom. It is a good, warm neutral. Definitely a beige!

Why on earth would pink look scruffy after six months @WhenTheyComeForYou ?

Yeah, DP would veto that too!

I would also go a pale to warm pink, or something like Farrow and Ball’s Setting Plaster. We have pink in our living room (with a blue sofa and two kids), and it looks great after two years, not scuffed at all.

Dragonsbe · 19/01/2025 14:07

I would also go a neutral...what about Dimnity? Don't mention pink to him...it doesn't look pink in my north facing room, just warm

What does anyone think about f&b elephants breath or ceviche - little greene?

@Itsbeenalongoldday I like Elephant’s Breath and have used it successfully in the past, but have wanted to move away from grey more recently. I haven’t used Ceviche, but if these are the colours you are looking at you may also like Little Greene’s French Grey family of colours.
