How soundproof is your double-glazing?

because ours is rubbish. Has anyone any experience of different manufacturers?

ours is wooden framed and pretty useless.

Ours is really good. It is new - 2.5y or so. Plastic frames. The gap between the two pieces of glass looks o be pretty big which helps I believe.

thanks for your replies. Ours are also uPVC and the gap is big, yet they are still rubbish! must have noisey streets round here, lol!

We had uPVC fitted and they are good BUT we discovered that on the door and front windows there was a HUGE gap between the sealed unit and the wall and the CRAP installers just covered the gap up with a thin strip of wide, flat uPVC border (or whatever the covering sides to the widndows are called).
Therefore the WINDOW is fantastically sound proof but the thin strip of plastic cover ISN'T, so we had to remove all the covers down the side and fill in the HOLE with that filler stuff, and replace the cover strip and NOW the installations are more soundproof.
