Kitchen floor choice

I need a new kitchen floor, currently have plain white/creamish tiles with dark grout...hate hate hate hate them. They show up every speck and they're just horrible. I inherited them from previous owner.

I was thinking of getting oak laminate, splash and waterproof. Reason is I have similar oak laminate in my hallway leading to kitchen so would like to keep the 'flow' of the oak iyswim.

Is oak a good kitchen colour or will I end up with the same issue of cleaning my floor every 2 minutes? Theres just me and my dog so its not like there will be alot of foot traffic and I know it will always be a battle of sorts due to the four legged mischief maker... he isn't very hairy just a messy eater ! Love him ❤️ despite his foibles.

I will never do tiles of any sort but would like to know if anyone has gone down the road of kitchen laminate and what their experience of good or bad might be ...or advice would be? Thanks in advance.

When you say oak laminate,do you actually mean oak coloured laminate? I have 2 dogs (borders) we have an open plan bungalow,so have gone for laminate everywhere now. The kitchen is open plan at the end of the living room,a little bit of wall each side.... just the depth of the kitchen cupboards. That used to have tile effect laminate, and the living room end is called "driftwood"(the colour,) now the same throughout,it's splash proof, not waterproof. B and Q, I loath them, but they had the best selection. We considered engineered wood, but the doors couldn't be made any shorter and it was just too thick to lay. A lot of traffic here, through the living room, kitchen, conservatory, kids, grandkids, pushchairs, you name it.

I went with engineered wood in light oak for the kitchen in the house I’m selling to match the rest of the open plan ground floor. It’s held up really nicely. It’s grainy so if there’s a lot of traffic and it gets a bit marked you can’t really tell. It was the same price as Karndean.
