Kitchen Magic - worth it?

Im looking to replace my kitchen and saw the advert on TV for Kitchen Magic, whereby the carcass of the kitchen remains and they just replace the cupboard doors.

Has anyone used them, and, if so, was it a reasonable cost / did it look “new”? My kitchen is large-ish (kitchen diner) and I would just like to spruce it up.

I believe the carcass of my kitchen (installed 2012 when I bought the house as a new build) is fine, but I would need new kicker boards and worktop as well.

I haven’t used them but just to say there are loads of companies who will provide new doors for your kitchen cabinets (as they are generally standard sizes) so do shop around. Kick boards are also generally easy to replace.

I don’t know how many of these will supply a new worktop but it’s not hard to find separate worktop suppliers. Or you can get your existing worktops “wrapped” which may (or may not!) be easier/cheaper.

My kitchen was fitted by previous owner 5yrs ago.
layout is perfect for my needs….but I don’t like the colour or the worktop…so am thinking same as you-would it be ok just to change doors & worktop?
Does anyone know if IKEA do just doors & worktops only?

minipie · 09/01/2025 17:07

IKEA you can buy whichever bits you want BUT their cabinets are notorious for not being the same standard sizes as everyone else’s so be careful. Having said that I think it’s the depth (front to back) where theirs are different, so wouldn’t affect doors, but do check dimensions!

When we moved into a ten year old new build we had the cupboard professionally spray painted, a joiner changed the worktops, plus we changed the splash backs with tiles. It transformed the kitchen with minimal work

Yes you can just buy doors at IKEA separately, and just worktops. Though lots of independent places do worktops so you might want to get them from somewhere that fits as well (doors from IKEA would be very easy to do yourself if you're slightly handy - you'll need to get them to hang straight and drill holes for handles).

We did something like this - not that company though. The doors were shabby but the worktop was fine and I didn’t want to change the layout. I was pleased with the result. Not very cheap but a lot cheaper than a new kitchen - we were told it was approx 40% of the cost of an equivalent new kitchen - and a lot less disruptive.

Spaghetticonfetti · 10/01/2025 19:36

Thank you for the advice - my kitchen doors and worktop all need replacing, it just looks old and just not welcoming. It was a big standard new build kitchen from many years ago.

I had an ad come up for Magnet kitchens and they seem to have a good sale on as well, so I may have a look at how much a kitchen is with them.

It’s the disruption I can’t be arsed with!

Avoid 'Kitchen Magic' like the plague. We had a £7,500 makeover by them in March 2024 and after a couple of months, the cabinet doors started warping and peeling. Their customer service has been awful (from day 1, really) and we are having to get all of our doors replaced again. We were also pressurised to pay half the amount upfront and also seems like we'll never get any of this money back again (currently considering legal action). Don't be fooled by the glossy tv ad and their so called 'reviews' on 'Google' - (wish I'd read some other reviews elsewhere before using them!). They are truly horrendous and should be put out of business forthwith. Do what we are now doing now, get the doors from somewhere like 'DIY Kitchens' and get a reputable local joiner to fit them. If only we'd done that to begin with!

Spaghetticonfetti · 16/01/2025 17:18

Thanks @spanishsusy - after I posted this (and arranged a quote) I did look at the online reviews and have been shocked by how bad the service has been by kitchen Magic.

I have heard a lot about DIY Kitchens so I think this is an option to look into

Have you thought about just getting your doors resprayed?

Anonymouse27 · 16/01/2025 19:04

Yes. My elderly neighbour completely ripped off by Kitchen Magic. Avoid!

It was an extremely stressful experience, staff rude, didn't get money back.

ImogenAC · 14/04/2026 11:17

Has anyone used Kitchens Transformed Ltd, they spray paint kitchens.
They don't replace worktops which I also need doing.

ImogenAC · 14/04/2026 22:47

Thanks I will avoid 'Kitchen Magic' however there are many any other companies that spray paint kitchen doors and units. I was just enquiring if anyone had experience of Kitchens Transformed Ltd or other kitchen respray companies?

user1480444895 · 18/04/2026 20:44

Unpleasant people to deal with and no idea about customer service. Avoid.

Any local joiner should be capable of replacing worktops, there are also plenty of small companies now do kitchen door resprays.

I recommend this. I’ve just had high gloss, bubbling kitchen doors stripped and sprayed in matte, white for top units and matte black for lower units and kickboards, cost about £1400 for 25 various size doors and drawer fronts. I kept my worktop, as it’s granite, kept same tiles too. Doors were spayed off site, but trims taped off and done in situ, took a couple of days. It honestly looks like a new kitchen, minimum disruption and low cost. I’m in East Midlands.
