4 year old house - would you get a survey?

We're moving into a 4 year old Redcliffe house.

A survey will cost £600 and I'm dithering on whether we actually need one or not.

WWYD?

Yes some houses are still badly built.

As above

Our house was ten years old when we sold it. No survey requested.

Presumably there is a builders warranty? I probably wouldn't get a survey, as the point is to highlight hidden costs, and in theory any faults should still be covered. Annoying to deal with but shouldn't be costly to you. Do check with your solicitor though and make absolutely sure that the paperwork is all in place.

No I wouldn’t bother.

FlameItAll · 08/01/2025 09:55

I would. There is a chap on tiktok who is a new build inspector usually hired after the people have moved in and he finds so many faults. Here is one terrible house but his channel shows it is all the major builders. Don't assume a new build means it is without problems.

Yes I would - our neighbours new builds all have a systemic roof problem.
