Completing on Friday and just realised a lock is broken!

So DH was going round the house opening and locking windows and doors to be sure he had the keys in all the correct locks. We can't get the patio door to lock into place properly. The doors were only installed in 2021 and have a 10 year warranty but the company is closed for Christmas/ NY until the 6th. WWYD? We could call a locksmith but would probably cost us about £400 because of it being an emergency and NYD or we could leave them an apology note and a copy of the warranty and leave the buyers to sort. I feel bad that the doors won't lock properly (they lock together but not into the base - so someone could probably break them open if they tried hard) but equally I don't want to spend loads of money when it's covered under warranty. If we weren't moving we'd just live with it for a few days and get it sorted when the company reopens, but is that unfair? If it makes a difference we didn't want to complete on 3rd Jan because we were worried about last minute issues not being able to get stuff sorted because everywhere is closed but the buyers threatened to pull out if we didnt agree to this date. I sort of feel like that means they took the risk. To be clear they WILL NOT have to pay as it's covered, but they will have a potential security issue over the weekend and until they can get an appointment. Help!

It won't be the lock, the door needs adjusting on the hinges as will have dropped a bit that makes it difficult to lock/unlock. Your 10 year warranty won't ha e anything to do with the doors needing adjusting they haven't failed it's just something that happens especially if they are a few years old.

Oh really? So what do we do to fix it?

Any decent local.one man band glazier will be able to help you, you may be able to find a "how too" on you tube as well I'd recommend that before having anyone out to change locks

Whether or not this issue is covered, are you also sure your guarantee is transferable? I would be careful about assuring them that it is covered, if it might not be.

Surely it's the work and product that's guaranteed not the people? I'm planning on leaving it for them anyway.
But actually I think actually DH has just fixed it anyway. Thank goodness.

Not all guarantees are transferable that is correct but the issue you have is not a product failure it is a wear and tear issue so wouldn't be covered. Some glazing companies would come out and sort that free of charge (we do) however technically should charge
