Handy man - is this over charging?

My elderly neighbour had a new handy man round to install a 5ft curtain pole in his living room for him. Pole came with all the fixings. Handy man drilled new holes into the wall, pole put up. Took about 30 minutes. Was completed to a good standard.
He was charged £115. This seems a lot to me and I am worried that my neighbour was over charged. He says he doesn’t know what is reasonable and is thinking of having this man back to do other jobs.
Was this price reasonable?
(Not in London btw as presume prices are higher there)

It's very hard to find people to do small jobs now, a chap around our area is pricey and his work is not that good but he gets work...I have corrected a few of his bodges for a neighbour. Our local fb group is often asking about handyman services.

Total rip off, £30 an hour is what I pay in Scotland, I save up a few jobs to make it worthwhile as I expect the £30 would be the minimum rate for anyone to come out.

To me that’s more on par with an emergency plummer call out.

Agree, a total rip off.

It's expensive. Our local handyman charges £25 an hour.

I agree with PP who said it’s expensive but unfortunately not unusual. I just had a kitchen tap replaced, total cost £200. DH fitted a curtain pole ( at home) last month, it took an hour but it was a 6 foot one with a join in the middle. If he wants to use this guy again he needs to get a quote in writing/ via email before deciding.

If he’s competent you have a pearl.
